North Oklahoma County Mental Health Center (NorthCare) is a certified Community Mental Health Center as well as a licensed Child Placement Agency with four clinics in Oklahoma City. To better serve the Oklahoma City community, NorthCare purchased a 23-acre tract of land on which it built a facility that it leased to the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services to run a 24-hour crisis and acute care medical clinic for high risk individuals and families. NorthCare also plans to consolidate its four Oklahoma City clinics at this location in a new 60,000 square foot building that will house NorthCare and lease space to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, Variety Care (a federally qualified health center) and The Education and Employment Ministry.
NMR provided $10 million in New Markets Tax Credit financing and two other CDEs provided an additional $6.7 million in New Markets Tax Credits to help fund the $17.4 million project in a severely distressed neighborhood (37% poverty, 41% of median income) in near-downtown Oklahoma City. NorthCare will serve 14,000 patients from this location.
